Albariño 2016

Description: Albariño is a Spanish variety well suited to Maryland's climate. Light in color with appealing aromas of peaches and flowers, and a bright acidity on the finish.

Body: medium
Finish: dry
Aging: stainless steel
Varietal: Albariño (100%)
Appellation: Maryland, Boordy South Mountain Vineyard

Vineyards & Winemaking: In 2012 we planted Albariño on sloping land in our South Mountain Vineyard in Frederick County. The vines are thriving, producing small, compact golden clusters that ripen in mid-September.  We cool ferment the wine in stainless steel tanks and bottle shortly after the first of the year to capture its freshness.

Suggested Foods: grilled octopus, seared scallops, ceviche

Awards:
Gold Medal: 2017 San Francisco International Wine Competition
Best In Show; Best In Class; Double Gold Medal: 2016 Maryland Governor's Cup
Best White Varietal; Gold Medal: 2016 Maryland Comptroller's Cup
